Green Steel
Breitenfeld Edelstahl is a recycling company that sustainably produces stainless steel using the electric arc furnace process. This process uses 90% recycled scrap and 10% alloying elements, resulting in 90% fewer CO2 emissions compared to conventional blast furnaces. With the use of green electricity, the carbon footprint can be further improved. Breitenfeld’s CO2 emissions stand at 0.140 tons of CO2 per ton of steel, well below the EU average of 2.0 tons of CO2.
Breitenfeld contributes to the circular economy by efficiently sourcing scrap and preferring rail transport to reduce emissions. The company’s high-quality stainless steels extend the lifespan of products and enhance their energy efficiency. At the end of their lifecycle, the materials are recycled and reused. In this way, Breitenfeld sets benchmarks in resource conservation and sustainable steel production, making an important contribution to environmental relief.
