How I became a metallurgist and metal forming engineer

Since I started my apprenticeship I have been able to enhance my knowledge in the different areas of our company. I started out at the forge training workshop for a two-month basic course during which I learnt basic skills, such as filing, sawing, welding, drilling and forging. This was followed by two months in the laboratory where I gained deeper insights into the processing of samples, working with analytical devices, the methods of analysing the composition of our steel and the treatment of our water for and after various processes. Maintaining and promoting good health! Workplace health promotion is an essential part of the philosophy at Breitenfeld Edelstahl AG. Exercise and therapy programs are continuously offered to our employees, and we run regular workplace checks with regards to occupational safety and health protection. This year’s highlight was the first Breitenfeld Health Day on September 19. The offered services ranged from presentations and activity stations to individual consultations about prevention and health. The last couple months since the merger of the Breitenfeld Group to Breitenfeld Edelstahl AG have been as intensive as they have been successful. Sales in the ingot and bar steel business sectors could be significantly increased in terms of value and volume. As a result of this extremely positive development additional investments and the decision to further expand our special steel plant were made.
